BLOOD IMAGE TECHNOLOGY

A NON-PHARMCEUTICAL TREATMENT
FOR SEPTICEMIA/SEPSIS

Welcome to Blood Image Technology

Se
pticemia/sepsis is a very serious world-wide medical problem. According to the CDC, there are approximately 1.7 million infections and 350,000 deaths per year in the US alone. Medical costs from sepsis are also high: in 2018 hospitalization costs to (U.S.) Medicare were $41.8 Billion.

Current treatment guidelines call for the immediate administration of intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics upon diagnosis. However, antibiotics are not effective for many patients, and increasing antibiotic resistance is causing available antibiotics to become less effective.

Our technology offers an alternative, utilizing a medical device for the treatment of septicemia and sepsis.

The Scale of the Problem

Septicemia is a infection of pathogen cells in the human blood stream. Septicemia frequently leads to sepsis, which is the body’s life-threatening response to infection. Sepsis can lead to septic shock, which may ultimately result in death.

1.  According to the Sepsis Alliance, it is the #1 cause of death in US hospitals: deadlier than breast cancer, prostate cancer, and AIDS combined.

2.  In the US, Sepsis strikes roughly 2 million people each year and is the cause of 1 in 3 hospital deaths.

3.  Worldwide, septicemia is the cause of 1 in 5 deaths.

4.  According to the Mayo Clinic, septic shock has a 50% mortality rate.

5.  Sepsis hospitalizations cost Medicare $41.8 billion in 2018 alone.
